900 km = 3 belts gone

i dont know whats wrong.
i ride like really hard and im always giving it lots of throttle on and off.
that got something to do with it ?
ive heard something about letting the belt break in for like the first few 600 km or more or something . but i cant wait that long

You're using the good belts, correct? Dayco Ultimax 3's are pretty good belts.

typical for overheating a belt. try venting your sled more, let some more air in and make sure it can get out, use pre filter material to cover the holes.

Have you had your clutches off or motor out, sounds like your clutches are out of alignment or there is imperfections on one of them.If all is good try 30km break in.

sounds like the belt hieght is wrong in the secondary. is it pinching the side cords out? I run my belts so that the low spot on the outside lugs is flush with the top of the clutch. they wont pinch out the cord and I get great belt life. I got just about 2000 MILES out of the last everyday belt on my mach and 2300KMS on the last belt on my 800. you adjust the secondary withe the 3 bolts on the face of it. loosen them a bit and turn that ring a bit and re tighten. then run it on a stand and see the belt go down some. keep adjusting that until its where it needs to be and poof, no more pinching out cords

i have heard of a broken belt, but not breaking in a belt, wondering if the primary clutch is off balance, the price the dealership will charge to look at it , you could buy another clutch used. if it is a bad clutch i could see a bad crank seal and bearing. maybe the inner plate is warped, i would try another clutch. as well see if there is any play in the jack shaft(up and down(side to side. as well use a straight edge to see if the primary and secondary plates line up

Replace the belt, you have a burned spot in it ) ( and that's making it thump.

with a new belt you will notice that the rubber on the side is a bit soft, when you are easy on the sled for about 30km check your belt you should notice that the sides of it are smooth, a bit shinny, and it is harder..so now it will last a lot longer

but really with the big engine sleds when you take off from a dead stop digging a nice trench behind you..don't you think the belt is going to get damaged...just think how long tires on a car last when you take off spinning them all the time, sure the tire says good for 100,000km but how long do you think they will last, guest what a belt on a ski-doo, same idea

sorry, breaking in a belt should always be done. ride it easy for at least 25 miles. letting it cool down for a bit after break in helps also.

as for venting, get the hole saw out, or look for some aftermarket kits for cooling the belts. SLP may sell them.
