I can get 100 out of mine......you can get to 85 pretty quick.....85 to 95 takes a little bit....95 to 100 seems to take the longest.

Check out dootalk.com. Everyone with the the 500ss are reporting speeds of 95-100, 'dats about it. Remember those are indicated speeds, so I'd say 90ish depending on many conditions.
IMHO if I had the choice all over again, I would have purchased the 500ss. Just because they used the old SeriesIII 600 motor (bullet proof & proven so) and it has none of the new HO issues that Ski-doo denies they have.... *caugh*flaking rings*caugh*
Unless doing a straight out race on a lake the 500ss will hang with if not out perform the 600's on the trail. And cost much less to buy & insure!

I rode with a guy that has the 500 SS. I ride an '01 MXZ 700, and he was right with me on the trails. Sled seemed to handle really well and had decent acceleration out of the corners. He told me he had it up around 105. This is on a long flat reservoir. My $$$ would go on the 500 over the 600HO.

why do they call it a 500?
Why do they call it a 500 if it's a 600 really...it has more cc's than the HO

maybe to trick insurance companies? thats what i said. or just to say their "500" can hang with 600's and keep up with 700's. we were seriously thinkin about the 500 ss. its still a good option but my dad wants more power.
what are you talkin about, yamahadude???
