670 trouble
i have a 98 summit x 670 and i was riding today and my clutch started making noise then it kinda started bogging so i stopped(the noise sounded like when a belt starts going, it was a ticking-rattle) i checked and the belt was fine but my clutch was loose i could wiggle it up and down,,, any ideas would be greatly apreciated

Didd the clutch mounting bolt loosen up? Was it the engine clutch or driven clutch?

the bolt was tight i think it is my crank bearing but the motor still starts and stuff fine. if it is the crank bearing how hard and how expensive is it to repair, also can u bore the cylinders or is the some special kind of lining that prohibits it? any info would be a huge help

crank bearings in my 700 mxz woulda cost me $900 to repair at the dealer, of course $650 of that is labor. also, if the bearings welded themselves to the crank beyond repair, yuor parts and labor cost will go up obviously. my advice is take it to a reputable repair shop, just in case something should go wrong, you should get a 30 day parts warranty and depending on the repair shop, may get labor included with that.

Can you see it wiggle where it goes into the block? If so DON'T DRIVE IT! The main bearing is gone for the crank. You need to have the crank rebuilt, and detrrmine what else after you tear the motor down.

You can save yourself 500-600 of that labor if you can take just your lower end into the shop,(minus the head, cyl, piston)I had my mag side replaced for 50 buck of labor, plus gaskets and ect.

I just had my crank on my rave triple 700 rebuilt, I saved alot of money by only taking the crank and bottom of motor to the shop, after parts and labor it still cost $700, but thats better than the estimate of 1300
