580 ideals to fast

i have a 94 skidoo grand touring 580 it ideals to fast around 3500 rpm how do you slow it down ? what speed should it run ? thanks

The first thing to check is the idle setting on the carbs. chances are they need to be turned down. Also check the rubber boots on the carbs for cracks.Replace them if they are cracked.

They're the "grippy" looking screws you can turn with your fingers, on the side of the carbs.

thanks turned the screws out have it idealing at 1500 to 2000 rpm

Moving my idle screw does not really do much, how much do you have to move them, a lot? My sled is idling around 1200, I don’t think it’s really hurting it, is it, I would rather move it up a little. Any suggestions?

i have them turned out 4-1/2 turns a 1/2 turn seems to change mine a lot

i tried mine 1/2 a turn at a time then started it to see how much it changed the speed until i got it to where i wanted it

Depends on which way you turn it. You may have some dirty carbs though, and you should consider cleaning them.
