1985 Formula SS

Hi All,

I was just given a 1985 Yellow Formula SS with a Rotax engine (not sure how many CCs). It has 1000 miles on it and the engine and suspension look brand new. The tag on the sled has a manufacturer date of June 1984 and the first four digits of the model are 3613.

I know nothing about Ski-doos, so I was hoping someone can tell me something about this sled as well as where I can find some online info (user manual, specs, parts suppliers...etc)

Thanks

Steve

I'm pretty sure it had a liquid cooled 462 in it. Check for a tag right next to where the recoil starter bolts to the motor.

Thanks.....It is a liquid cooled engine, so I guesss it is a 460.

Do you have idea where I can get some info about the Formual SS. In it'day, what tyoe of sled was it? I tried to googe 1985 Ski-doo and 1985 Ski-doo Formula SS and there isn't too much informaiton out there.

I was also surprise to see that sled does not have any type of choke. It only has a primer pump.

Actually I prefer the primer more than the choke. I think the new ski-doos went back to choke, worst move ever made.

Primers are better than a choke IMO.

Thanks for the input.

I can't seem to find much informaiton on the web about the 1985 Formula SS. From what I can see Ski-Doo only manufactured the SS and SP for 1 year. Does anyone know why that is? Was there something unique about them?

My dad used to have a 1984 Formula Pro stock it was a factory race sled with a 521cc it was a very rare sled unfortunatly he sold it to buy the PlusX.. it was a awsom sled i wish he kept it instead of selling it to his buddie who ruined it! sorry if this didnt help but it must be similar to the 85'SS u speak of.. do you have anypics of it???

What im guessing is that its VERY similar to the formula MX which was made 85-89. Theres a service manual for all ski-doos 1985-89 made by Clymer, you can find them on ebay. Though it doesnt list your model. The information about parts should be close enough.

Smallengineguy, think he would benefit from buying this manual?
