Talking no spark, wonder where to start??

Hey guys and gals. I'm new to the site in search for some anwsers to my questions, hopefully.I've just picked up a'98 mach 1 700 ski-doo and it has no spark at all.Could some one guide me to where I should start to look? This sled has been sittng for 3 years, turns over very well, has great compression and in over all very good condition. Are there any concerns that you people would know of, from sitting so long? The pistons have been oiled from previous owner and I know the carbs are in desperate need of rebuilding. I really apreciate any help provided and any thing else I should be concerned with.
Thanks D

the spark issue could be a few different things. cdi bad, stador bad or even an electrical short somewhere.
clean the carbs ensuring the jetting is clear and get rid of any old gas and go from there. a good greasing of all the suspension and steering components would be good to do. changing the chain case oil wouldn't hurt neither.
good luck.

Start by making sure that the DESS is plugged in tight and is making good contact or there will be no spark.

I'd say CDI is bad. All 3 coils won't fail at once, and the stator is rare.

i would start with the teather, then all the electrical connections, pull them all apart, clean and use di-electric grease when plugging them back in, if you still do not have spark i would place my money on the stator or pick-up coil, the CDI could be bad, but failure on those models was rare.

i also have that problem! for as long as i have owned it i have never cleaned the cabrs but i fog them in the spring and when i pull the carbs they are SO clean and it would fire up fist pull every year and run stellar for the whole season and the next but i found this year that i would go to start before i go out and it was completely dead and when i primed it i could see the gas go through the lines and the plugs would be wet and i would flud to make sure its getting gas but the next morning first pull it would fire right up! so i am thinking its the coil but im not sure i dont have imideate access to it right now so it will have to wait but any help would be FANTASTIC please!! i no there are some PRS owners in here anyone have this problem?

Connor.

You're flooding it. A little less primer next time.

I take it that your 98 Mach is a triple? If it has been sitting for 3 years check for cracks on the underside of the carb boots where they bolt onto the engine, you might need a mirror and a flashlight to see this without taking them off. Common problem with the triple and can lead to engine damage.
