Summerizing sleds?

Hello, I'm new to the sports this year. I hear people saying they are going to summerize their sleds. What does that consist of? What do I need to do? I have a 99 Summit x 670. Thanks for your help

Here's what I do;

- Fog the motor
- Stabilize the fuel
- Grease everything
- Clean off any dirt or grime
- Remove the belt
- Put the sleds in the back of garage and bring the mower to the front.

Some people will shove rags in the intake and exhaust to prevent any unwanted nesting. Moth balls also seem to be popular for keeping away the pesky rodents.

Steel wool is better than rags to keep rodents out of the exhaust or intake.

Doesn't hurt to prop the back of the sled up and relieve the tension on the rear springs, and loosen the track some. Also, lifting the front of the sled helps keep the front springs from developing a sag as well. I also drain as much gas out of the tank as possible and drain the carb floats after fogging the engine.

I don't fog, because I start my sleds up occasionally over the summer.

I usually open the trailer once a month.Start them up.Let them run for about 3-5 minutes.Shut them down. Drink a beer or two .....or three, while admiring my lovely winter toys.
Depends if my snowmobile buds are there. Sometimes, that trailer don't close for a few hours. And we never seem to have enough beer.

yeah, its a lubricant/oil (foggoing oil) you spray into the carbs then goes into the cylindars. once you spray, the motor will start to "choke", and shut off. start it up again, and spray the fogging oil in the carbs again. usually 2 to 3 cycles will get enough oil into your motor to summerize/winterize.

ive never fogged my sled, however, i do fog my 1959 johnson seahorse 10hp motor at the end of the boating season. motor starts right up next season
