Formula 583 problems HELP!!

Hello,

I am new to this forum and am in need of some help. I live in upper michigan and was out snowmobiling last week thanks to the 30" we got hit with. I have a 1994 formula 583 with about 6000 miles on her and it was running real well until i started going through some deep powder and it just bogged down. I made it back to some hardpack and as soon as i let off the gas it died. I tried forever to get it started and finally did right before the battery went dead but it will only run if you have the throttle all the way depressed and then it will only run at about 4000-5000 rpm but as soon as you let off the gas she dies. Both plugs look good no metal deposits and have good spark and are wet after pulling them out after cranking for a while. When cranking it does sputter and struggle to start. I have had bad experience with the dealer this year so would appriciate any thoughts on where to start and what to look for. I am sure I should check compression first right?

by all means check the compression. you can also crimp off the primer lines and see if it runs better for you. those primers give varying symptoms when they go bad and still pump fuel when you start it. sometimes sleds bog in the powder because the exhaust outlet is covered with snow, but you stated you are still having problems on the pack, but just check it over anyways. also check your carb boots, make sure they are not cracked.

Check that air intake too for being full of snow.
