Top End Rebuild

I am looking at doing a top end on my 800 REV. I am looking for some opinions on prefered parts. I am leaning towards using a Bill Cudney top end kit. Reason behind rebuild is 10# difference in compression 140/130. It's my dealers opinion and I agree with him that the engine sucked up some moisture when I was in some powder plus I was out a couple times with some heavy snow in the air. I have since put a prefilter cover on the air intake and it works great at stopping moisture. Any opinions or tips on the rebuild are appreciated. Thanks....Lyle

I'd keep it stock if you want to save money. What's stock sompression? Those numbers don't seem bad. But if you want summer work, go ahead and rering it.

I knew you two would be the first to reply . Don't really know stock compression. Looking in from intake side tho, there is a little scouring on the piston with the low compression. That's why the dealer thinks it was moisture. He said that usually normal wear will scour the exhaust side first from heat. Only about a $50 difference in stock and Cudney. Was just wondering about the difference in durabilty between some of the aftermarkets vs. Stock? Appreciate the input guys. Thanks.

both stock and cudneys have moly coated skirts, i know the cudneys have the domes ceramic coated, not sure if the stock pistons do. only thing i have heard about the cudneys which would be a negative is the smaller diameter keepers are easier to bend, in my opinion they are all easy to bend, so be careful when installing the keepers. while your at it, i am not sure about the wrist pin bearings in the 800, but the 600 HOs were loose, i put new caged ones in mine and saved alot of hassles.
