2003 MXZ 800 REV Lights wont turn off
My buddy's got a 2003 MXZ 800 REV. When he shuts the sled down, the lights all stay on......indefinately.
I know there is a relay inside the left panel of the sled. Pulling this relay will turn the lights off.
This relay has been replaced, but the problem stays.
Anyone had a similar problem or know of a fix ???
Thanks

You need to trace the wire that triggers the relay. There is still power going through it. Key switch?

If I pull the relay out of its socket, the lights go out. When the relay is re-inserted, the lights stay out.

You need to trace the low-side power to the relay back to it's origin & figure out why it is sticking. SEG mentioned the key switch for one!

Thanks, I'll look at it tonight. I figured maybe they're selling him the wrong relay. I know on the newer REVs, the lights stay on for a few seconds after the machine is turned off.

It's NOT the relay! It's something that is sending power TO that relay. The lights won't come on unless there is trigger power to the relay. If that power isn't off, the lights will stay on. Unplug the keyswitch and see if they turn off.

the REVs have also had some issues with water getting into the electrical plugs going to the dash, take them apart and blow them out, put di-electric grease in the plugs and plug it back together.

That's a sucky problem. When you pull the relay, it'll shut the trigger off. Can you find a schematic to see what color wire going to the relay is the trigger? That way you can see where it goes.
