550x question

I want to out picks on my track for next season prolly 96. The sled is aircooled, do i need tunnel protectors or not?

Nope, but don't over do the pick length. Go NO more than 1/4 longer than the track lug.

The track has a 1.25 lug so 1.3/8 sound correct? The dealer told me i must have a tunnel protector which i did not agree with!

A tunnel protector is a good insurance policy, though. If the track gets loose, the studs will tear into the bottom of the tunnel like upersleder tears into an all you can eat buffet. If they are cheap, put one on.
