Fan belt replacement help!

Hi, it's me again, 1999 formula 500SL fc 3300 miles. I tried to change my fan belt tonight but I couldn't get the fan blade off without the special tool. I'm pretty frustrated. Does anyone know a way around this or have any advice for me on this particular job? I'm trying to get this thing ready for a trip this weekend. I'm new to sleds and am overwhelmed by the mile long list of routine maintainance. Are all sleds like this? Thanks much.

I have never used a special tool for that job, just a large screwdriver stuck through the fan.

I did half attempt something like that but when I saw the blade flex, I backed off. My service manual has two different torque specs for that nut (typo I guess) 45ft lbs and 55ft lbs, so it's on there pretty good.

Air ratchet is the best way.

If I use an air ratchet, will that possibly spin the motor backwards (either removing or installing) and will that harm anything? Thanks fellas!

Won't hurt anything, if it even does. I think the nut will come off first.
