Heard good things about Formula 583 but...

I know that my dads 2000 MXZ 600 has a very bouncy suspension. I almost cant stand to ride his sled unless its completely smooth. I have heard the Formula 583 have bad suspensions as well, what is bad about them??

PS-Is there a way to stop the bouncyness?

if its "bouncy" you need to do something with your shocks, they are bad. if they are re-buildables, they need rebuilding, if they are not, you need to get new ones.

Really, the sled only has 3000 miles or so, but I suppose. Its only bouncy when in moguls and suff like that, but its way more bouncy then are other sleds, like the sleds back end basically comes off the ground on most of them.

You need to adjust the suspension to the rider. I'm sure that will help.

Weight difference between you and your dad= suspension bounce.

No weight difference, and I have seen many others ride it and they say the same thing....it must be to stiff or soemthing to that effect.

Whatever, ill just get my own sled and adjust it to my liking.

If your dad likes it that way, better get your own then. If not, let off the spring preload one setting.

You can adjust it the way you want it by doing the suggestions above. Spring adjustment is the biggest factor.

the mxz had a stiff suspension as they are a ditch banger sled built to handle the rough stuff. most find it too harsh for trail riding. they are great when you are in bumps the size of buiks and riding hard. if your looking for a plush cushy ride, the mxz is not the sled for you.
they did not have a bouncy suspension, just stiff.

like everyone else said i would adjust the sled for the way you like it and check out the shocks i doubt that the suspension design is causing it ive ridden quite a few sleds similar to that sled and none of them were bouncy at all. and as far as the formula z 583 i have had great experiences with them my riding buddy has one and its a blast to ride.

Well thats good to hear, its a real possibility for me to be getting this sled (96' Formula 583) since i have a loan option now. Im just wondering (since i do not want to start another thread about this) will this sled keep up with my dads 00' 600 Stock. I know i wont beat him, or keepright along side him, but it wont be a total blow out will it. The sled i am getting has only 1200 miles and his is going on 3000 so his engine could be a little more worn..what do you think?

And what can I do to freshen up the 583 without compromising realiability. I just want it to suprise people, but i dont really need it any faster than a six hundred because I know my dads is still to fast for me to be riding to the boards..haha.

Ha, dont get me wrong i know there fast sleds, but my dads is almost the same engine except a six hundred, so i just wanted to know what are some realible ways to beef up the power a little bit so i can hang directly with him?

the "bouncying" you are feeling is normal for the first sc-10. which im pretty sure is in that model. all the first sc-10's have that kick back when going slowly over bumps. (say 40kp/h they smooth out and dont kick back when going fast over bumps say 70kp/h. The thing i love about them is the ACM nut. take it off and u can get the skis up, there is an upgrade kit for the kick back of the suspensions and its cheap and and easy to install you can order one here http://www.royaldistributing.com/sho...ex_w_04_A.html

I see, I know what you mean about the speed. It was a pain though when i had different size bumps on the path we were on (minimum matinence road) so anytime i got speed up I would hit some really big bumps and it would start to get sideways on me, so i kept it slow the whole time.

But enogh of that, i will get my own sled, and run it the way i want.

On a different note, a 1996 Formula Z 583 with 1200 miles and a new suspension..900$..good price? Not sure what "New Suspension" means but i will definently be finding out.

I payed $2000 For my 95 mach and it hade 3200 miles on it then.
