I saw this oil sale and my dad bought 4 gallons as well. I personally use shell advance synthetic. It's good oil but if you have exhaust valves which I don't know if the fans do I would not use it because it will have you cleaning them every couple hundred miles. Then again we have a 98 summit that has never seen synthetic oil and the exhaust valves have never stuck.

I'd say take it back and wait until the shell advance synthetic comes on sales 1/2 price which it does a couple times a year and then stock up that's what i did back in october.

SEG does his sled have exhaust valves? They recomend the bombardier oil to people around here and its not synthetic but I think the dealer here sucks so what do they know.

I'm pretty sure the 550 fan doesn't have R.A.V.E. valves. BRP says you can run their mineral oil in carbureted engines, so I would say it would be alright to run it. But remember that you get what you pay for, and oil is one thing you don't want to go cheap on.

Shell Advance is good oil i use the synthetic in my sled and i have 3900+ miles and have only cleaned the exhaust valves once.

My dad uses it in his 99 XC 700 SP with 8000 Miles and has never had any trouble.

I'd say use the oil it's a TCW-3 low ash so it's not a cheap oil if you want to know more about it go shell's website!
