You must first spread the sheaves in the secondary in order to get a little slack in the belt. Twist the LHS sheave & push to the left...the belt will drop down a bit. Then you'll be able to get the bearings in the clamps!

So I didn't make a mistake by removing the collar from the bearing.
So the secondary you mean the lower clutch furthest from yhe windshield? Not sure what the sheave is.

Thanks !

The primary (also called the drive clutch) is attached to the engine crankshaft. The secondary (driven clutch) is on the jackshaft. The sheaves are the plates that create the pulley....on the secondary, they spread apart as you pick up speed, whereas the sheaves on the primary squeeze together. You must wrestle the sheaves apart on the secondary so the belt drops down, giving slack in the belt. Get on the LHS of the sled & grab the inside of the closest one, pull & twist at the same time & hopefully it will open up enough to push the belt down. This can be a PITA, so be patient!!

Also, make sure when you try to put the shaft and bearing back in place, that you spread apart the brake pads and fit the rotor in between them, as i beleive the brakes are still on that side for that sled. If not, disregard that statement.

Hello again, I have the new belt on but I am still having issues. The problem is that the track is staying engaged I beleive. When I try to start the machine I am pulling over track and all. If I blocked the machine up I can get it started and if I rev it up I see both clutches moving. When idling the track is moving But when I try to put the machine down on the ground it stalls out. Any ideas ?

Could be the new belt is to small? How fast is the track moving when the machine is idling?

Well this is the reason that I changed the belt orginally. Thought it may have been causing the issue. Slowly but it is turning...

Either the wrong belt is on it( too short) or the Primary clutch needs cleaning. If it is binding and not releasing all the way, this is what will happen.
You can clean the clutch with brake cleaner.
Let it dry before reinstalling the belt and do not use any oils on the clutch.

Alrighty Thanks, it is a new belt from Canadian Tire and I asked for one for a Citation 4500 so I guess I have to clean the clutch. This will be the first time for me, I guess I have to completely disassemble it, any heads ups ?

It is best if you take it apart.
You can then check the spring and the weights for wear and replace any bushings/other worn items at that time.
Just be very careful when removing the outer cover as the spring has a lot of tension on it.
Use a "scotch pad" to clean the pulley faces so you do not scratch the surfaces.

O.K. Thanks for the heads up on the spring, like I said I never did this before rough idea how long it would take. The sled is outside right now wondering if I should drag it into the garage...predicting warm weather for the weekend so if not to long of a procedure may attempt it outside.

What is the make and part number for the belt from Crappy Tire? Just want to make sure it is the right one. Most likely is, probably have to clean the clutch like RJ Gleason said. If your track turns but slowly when on a stand that is ok, most do.

Time will vary depending on how dirty it is and how long you can stand to do the work and how many cans of "soda" you drink while doing it.
