questions about grand touring 500le & Nordik

Alright my name is andy, as you can see this is my first post. I actually have never even sat on a snow machine until i came up to alaska to work in a store in the interior and the owners had some to use... I am originally from portland and not really in the offroad scene... am actually more from the import/ tuner scene here is what i did

thats my 92 ford escort lxe and yes that is a front mount intercooler... before i layed it down to come to alaska it ran a 13.7 @ 98 mph at portland international raceway on 11psi on a fairly small turbo.

ANYWAY onto my questions, first for the Nordik... today i went out on it... left it running for about 5-7 minutes not moving well after it was warmed up and it died... im assuming because it got too hot. i got it to start back up but and it began to die, i went for the throttle and it backfired blowing the exhaust manifold gasket... MAN its loud now.... the reason it sat is because i was on a dog sled with dogs and the musher who was not used to the machine let it sit while the dogs were resting (we just got to the mid/top of a big hill)

anyway i was curious to know how i can tell what model it is a Nordik 50 or 60, the exhaust gaskets are different (or at least have a different part number)... the owner knows just as much as me, ultimately ill probably just get both so i can for sure get it up and running before christmas. Also with this sled there is a little button below the handle bars with a rubber cover on it... i was wondering what that button was for.

now to the touring 500le... this was damaged before i got here, the coolant resivor had a hole melted in it... i was curious if this is common or what... there doesnt seem to be anything in the general area that would have melted it... im just curious because it will aid in the repair if i know why it is melting where it did.

Pics of the items mentioned would help to tell you what they are.

By the sounds off it the little switch by the handle bars is a kill switch in case you fall off. The tether you atatch to your self is probably gone and the wiring unhooked from the switch. Unhooking the wires disables the switch. Hook the wires back up and sled wont start until tether is replaced. I just went thru this on my Touring LE. I was wondered what it was, notice some wires unhooked so I hooked them back up then it wouldn't start. My brain kicked in about then. My Touring is a 380 fan so no help there for your coolant tank.
