Major noise 98 Grand Touring 700

hey there took my 98 Grand Touring 700 for a shot up the road yesterday i hit the brakes stoped put into reverese as i opened the throtle the sled sorta just inched and a it just made a loud sharp ginding noise like something in the chaincase had slipped (cringed my teeth 2 hear it) i put it in forward to see if i had lost the gears and it worked fine nudged it ahead and tryed it in reverse again the same thing happened so i get off pull it around and head back to the house (about 500' away) i park it in the driveway running lift the hood and again put it into reverse then forward it seesm like the the the brake rotor is loose and it kinda clangs when i move the shifter from forward to reverse ...i have only owned this sled for 3 days and was quite happy with its proformance ..it would almost make me think that its a reverse shifter rod adjusment problem but it worked so well b4 anyway i was wondring if this was somthing common or what you guys thoughts my be on this ..i have used the reverse since and seemed to be working fine again i just cant seem to keep closing my eyes and cringeing my teeth everytime i wanna back up the sound SOUNDS super BAD

Certainly not an expert here, but my guess would be linkage out of adjustment. You may have been on the ragged edge before when it was working. This may be a good reason/opportunity to pull the chaincase cover for inspection & refill of fresh oil. Good luck!

i agree, pull the cover and inspect everything for chips/cracks, broken chain links ect. put fresh oil in it and adjust up the linkage properly.
