backfiring through carb and exhaust, need help!

My 78 Everest 444 L/C, is backfiring out the carb and exhaust when I give it much throttle. Of course right now it's just up on a stand, but it's doing it just like it did last winter. I've done new plugs, wires, fresh gas/amsoil synthetic oil but the problem persists. I can't figure it out. I'm planning to take the carb apart and cleaning it out to see if that helps. I checked compression, and it's 120 on both cylinders. What else should I check?

It's gotta be either something with the carb. Of course it could be that it's not getting the proper spark???

sounds to me like the spark timing is off. check the flywheel and coils and make sure nothing is out of the ordinary.

It's either leaning out in the carbs (Clean them), or it may have a weak or intermittant spark. I think that may have points in it?
