03' Mxzx 800

I've been looking at getting myself into a newer sled, in the 5-6 grand area and have found a 03' mxzx 800 with reverse and electric start. Guy claims it is mint, Problem is I have no idea where to start when looking at a rev. I'll test the compression, check track condition, etc but is there any area with the revs I should really pay close attention to? Was the early engine problems with the revs fixed by 03?

03 was the first year of the rev. I think the 03s had problems.

They had a problem with the piston rings flaking, but they had a recall and most should have been done by now.

yeah they'd be the ones to have the ring problem, but there was a recall. other than that, nothing else different than a normal sled.

Engine compartment is very tight. Takes a while to get used to working on them. Other than the ring problem they were fine.
