1990 Skidoo Safari wont start Hot
Hi,
I have a 1990 Skidoo Safari 447 that does not want to start after it has been running awhile. If I shut the engine off and try to restart it hot it is difficult and almost impossible to restart. Sometimes I can get it going by playing with the throttle while pull starting. If I leave the sled alone for an hour or two, it starts right away. Any ideas??? Thanks Jeff

Sounds like it's running too rich. Did you check to see how the spark plugs look? If they are dark colored, a sooty black or slightly wet, That's the problem.

When it is cold, is runs like poop. When it is warm it is okay. Sometimes it backfires when I am trying to start it... Scares the pants off you!
Thanks,
Jeff

Did you take SEG's advice? Run it and pull the plugs to see if it's running rich.

Best to start with fresh plugs...........fouled plugs will give a lot of crazy symptoms! Plus they're cheap!!

I owned a 1990 Safari 440. Great little sled! But mine didn't really like starting hot either. I would have to hold the throttle ALL the way open and then pull it over. Started every time that way!

sounds like it is running rich, backfirings usually, caused by getting too much fuel/not burning it all, new plugs might help your problem...
