have a 96 500 ski-doo. just cleaned carbs, new carb boots and plugs. runs good until you let off the throttle and stop then seems to flood itself? bogs out and after a few minutes of playing with throttle will pick up and go again?
What is your compression? Need to check for blue spark hot and cold. When the carbs were cleaned, was a wire run through the pilot jet and passages? Does the sled run the same with the track off the ground?
Another possibility is the needle notch. Running a bit rich at speeds greater than 1/4 throttle and loading it up.
Pretty sure that machine has a Primer and not a choke. If it has a Choke (aka enricher), you might check and make sure the choke plunger is closing all the way. I usually adjust it so the spring forces me to push on the fastener slightly to start the first threads. Once started, use the choke lever to open it up while you tighten it down (makes it easier).
TheBearAk, this machine has a choke and the guy i just bought it from installed all new choke cables so your telling me the problem is most likely in the carburators?
The first thing to check then, would be the adjustment on the choke cables. Common mistake is to not put enough slack in the cable, thus it opens the choke (enricher).
Skidoo machines in the mid 90s were notorious for having float levels set too high. Could not stop and shut them off pointed downhill without them flooding, especially the 500s.
