hey guys i have a problem with my 07 renegade 800. would like to get a couple opinions. when i first bought the sled about 2 months ago it ran good just didnt want to idle so i bought it anyway thinking it would be an east fix. maybe bad gas for clogged carbs. well i drained the gas and cleaned the carbs jets were good and bowl was cleaned. it ran a little better but not great. i got to looking and realize i needed new carb boots. replaced them. sled seemed to be running better so have taken it up riding a couple times seemed to run good just always had a low idle. got to looking more into it and got to thinking or pretty positive its only running one cylinder. any ideas on helping solve my problem or trying to find the reason would be great thanks.

Compression test. Probably going to find that one has around 90 PSI.

Top end refresh and hope no scarring on the cylinder.

If you do pull it apart and discover that the pistons have 1 ring, you might go to the duel ring pistons.

i checked it but my buddy said his guage was no good they both read 90. so seeing they both read the same i was probably good and that it was just the guage. it starts right up and rund good on top end. still possibly bad compression? i just bought anther one today going to check it soon. could there be any other reason. electrical?

Try unscrewing the plug boots from the plug wire, snipping about 1/4" off and screwing the boots back on. Take a look in the boot to see if the screw is corroded. Look at the plug contact end, too. If they are corroded, clean or replace the boots. You can get NGK boots at most automotive stores.

I would also look all the wire connections and grounds, just to make sure they are all clean and tight.

well i checked the compression got just under 150 on both sides. i took the boots off cut them back cleaned them out. checked the wires no corrosion. thinking it has to be something with the carbs. hard to believe it would be electrical.i also put brand new carb boots on so i know thats not it
