1999 Skidoo mxz 600

Hi guys. I have a 99 mxz 600 with 900 miles. I just cleaned the carbs washed it to sell it and now it wont go above 3200 rpm. It idles great and starts good. To me it seems like the MPEM has lost its program. I remember the dealer telling me if the tether doesn't match the computer it will run but not go any where. Anybody have any ideas?
Thanks

Check the cross glued inside the tether. They are known to come loose.

Not sure I really understand what you are saying. Does it have to do with the plastic cover on the inside where it mounts to make connection?

The inside of the removable tether is metal with a X shaped metal piece glued in. The X can sometimes come loose. I'll attach a pic.

It looks to be still attached. One corner might be a little loose. I have pushed it on and twisted it to make sure it is seated.
