pipes or cans

I want my sled to be LOUD. What pipes are or cans are the best for that, that will not hurt my performance? I have a 2004 800 renagade X rev.

LOL, Not many fans of the can on this site and for good reason.

I would check out dynoport or other large named companies. They usually have the biggest selection and a better chance of having the pipe/can for your application. Stock pipes are usually the best performers because ski-doo spends a lot of money developing them for their specific engine application. I've even heard people complaining that they lose a little power after they put on a pipe.

Okay now comes the lecture!
Just incase you didn't know, pipes/cans are illegal on most trail systems almost everywhere. They're too loud and landowners can revolk permission because of the noise. You can also get pretty expensive tickets if you're caught with them too. If you're not doing any trail riding than all the power too ya, but if you are than think of the other people around you and leave it stock. I know you didn't come here for a lecture but a lot of people don't actually know that it's illegal and I thought I'd make it pretty clear to you.

Here's the link to the dynoport site for your sled, and if I may say that is an awsome sled you have there! I'm jeleous.

not many people like loud sleds on here, I think im the only one that likes them
If you want loud go with dual pipes and dual cans
slp usually has some good aftermarket pipes

I'm a very big fan of the Can. But I've been told that I can't put one on my 98 MXZ 500. Is there anyway to make a Can work on the sled but without losing power?

I personally believe you "never" will see any increase in improvement from a can(only noise)....talk to any performance shop that has a dyno and does not sell cans..of course if they sell cans they'll tell you you'll get 3-5hp....you will likely lose performance if any...go with a single or twin pipes ...you'll be much happier....remember though..if you pipe it you'll have to rejet and reclutch your sled

I have been told that I can't make a can work but what about pipes? Do they make pips for 98 500 MZX's?

Call pipe/can manufactureres they will know best! If they don't make a pipe/can for your application they might be able to steer you in the right direction.

Dyno port is the best one. did a test on it, and dynoport hands down.

my dad has a 2002 arctic cat panther 570. I put an Ultra-Q on my arctic cat zr 500. My dads panther is lauder than my zr. It just modified the tone. i dont think i lost any power. its still as zippy as ever
