So I stored away my 2005 Summit 1000 SDI Highmark X about a month ago. I went to move it and the battery was dead. After charging it I realized that even with the it killed the guage cluster is still illuminated and the fuel pump sits there priming itself every once in a while.

The sled still starts and runs as normal, it does not display any "codes" or service indications.

Then you have a relay that is probably stuck which is allowing current to flow even when the key is off.
You may have to disconnect the battery for it to stop and release.

I'm glad to hear that it is likely the relay. That is basically as far as I got troubleshooting it and had already ordered a couple relays, they won't be here for a few days, so then I guess i'll find out.

So I troubleshot it all the way to the voltage regulator. The violet/red to the fuse box had 12v on it even when the sled was off. Found it was shorted with the red/white (which is connected to the battery) at the voltage regulator. Ordering one tonight, will update.

The voltage regulator is below the Engine behind the exhaust, it has two carrier bolts with nuts that are nearly impossible to get to, had to remove a motor mount. Took a full hour to get it out.

Anything else I should be doing while I have the sled torn down this far?
