ignition coil

I'm not getting any spark on my 02 summit 800 and thought it could be the ignition coil and was wondering if there is a way to test it and see if that was the problem or should I check spark plug wires.

I think it should have multiple coils on it. If so, they are probably not all bad at the same time. Disconnect the key/kill switches first and try that.

I disconnected the kill switch already and it didn't help. what's the best way to disconnect the dess switch and if the dess isn't the problem and I think its my ignition coil is there a way to bypass it and get my sled started just to get it from where it died to my garage.

Unplug the kill system at the engine. Remember it also has a CDI and stator in it to provide spark. Did it just die suddenly? CDI's are famous for it. Regardless, a coil is $40. If you think that's it, just replace it. You can't bypass a coil.

You can bypass the coil but you will have no spark. The coil is the juicer upper that gives the BANG to the spark. Also DESS systems cannot be bypassed! If you think you have a bad teather, borrow a buddies teather and see if you can start your sled. It will start with the wrong teather but not rev past 3000 rpm. As SEG said people have had some problems with the CDI's failing in the past.

my sled did just die suddenly so maybe it is the cdi. I couldn't find it in the skidoo parts finder, would it be labeled as something different. I looked under ignition, electrical, etc.. and that would just be a plug in that I could do myself?

It's called a calibration module, and it's BIG bucks... ($390) Remove it and see if a dealer will test it for you.
