Make sure the tether (DESS) is plugged all the way in first.

unplug them (key and kill) that will eliminate them as a cause.

DOes it have one coil or 2? If it has 2, what are the odds that BOTh are bad at the same time??? Minimal. That leaves the CDI or stator. I'm willing to gamble it's the CDI. Look for one on eBay or an aftermarket, they're cheaper. Maybe you know someone you can swap the CDI with to try?

the easiest and cheapest way to find out what quit , as much as your going to hate hearing this, is to take it to a dealer and have them doo diagositic scan on the system, with dess and the mpem
electronics it could be anything and each componant is not cheap
i am thinkin it might be your stator but paying for a scan is cheaper than replacing parts till you find the culprit. i to own a '01 800 and it has been troublefree for over 4000 miles but they are noted for stator problems. i have a complete service manual for this sled and you would need special tools to do any indepth testing the electrical system. good luck!!!

P.S. if the sled is equipped with DESS there is no way to override the system, the teather and the kill switch HAS to be hooked up or it will not run. it is a anti theft device, your problem might be the teather itself for it has a chip that has to be programmed for
that sled for the sled to start. if the chip went bad then you need to get a replacement programmed that is why i suggested taking to dealer for the scan.

No. If one and three are firing, it must be the coil or plug boot.
