Off the line speed questions

I was wondering since my sled is only a 550, and can no way keep up with some of my buddies sleds (f7 Sno pro and 900) how can i make it faster for drag racing? I ordered studs and was told thats the #1 thing I could do but what else? Thanks, Matt

I know it depends on the gears, but how much will that affect my top end, it only goes about 85 as it is?

You can gear it to go faster on top, or to take off quicker. To do one, you'll lose the other...

everything is purportional (if thats how u spell it). the more u lower the gears for acceleration, the more topend you will lost. vise versa

Hope you've heard the old adage "There's no replacement for displacement"...............means that no 550 will keep up with a 700-900 sled. If there was a way, they would sell a million of 'em!

maybe in a real short drag race, theres no way you can keep up past 50 or 60 mph.

Yeah your only advantage would be weight. But usually the extra power of a larger motor, easily overcomes the extra couple of pounds added by the engine.
