1980 Citation SS

Does anyone really know these sleds? I have had mine for about 3 years, but only got to ride it for one because the rings were definitely shot. This year, tore it down and rebuilt it.

How quick is this 368 twin carb?

it might get to 65 with ideal conditions on a cold day...i'm assuming it's fan cooled. But it'll take a while to get there.

well i'll find out after the break in for sure.

EDIT---I am very disappointed in myself. Forgot to check RING CLEARANCE before i put the cylinders back onto the engine. Instead I eyed the gap w/o using a feeler gauge... ugg i hope all goes well.

All is well. First couple of minutes it ran on one cylinder, but then the other one started firing and ran pretty well. Got about 1 hr of riding time into it today.

Cant wait to get finished with the break in, 20:1 mix causes a tough idle to bother tuning to. Gonna run 50:1 with amsoil after I get this tank thru it.

I am kind of worried about how "warm" it was running. After I shut it down, i spit on the cylinder head, boiled right off. When it was running, it was blowing pretty warm... about as hot as car heaters put off. dono if this is damaging or not.

About right. It's fan cooled, right? Make sure the fan isn't slipping.

not so much that the fan is working properly, as the fact that old belts break at the worst time, like when you are far from home, and you can not change them easily at the side of the trail.
