Thumbs down Kill Switch issue

Well boyz, here it is, i recently picked up my 97 formula z 583 and took it out and loved it, after driving around camp all day i finally gassed up and hit the river (fresh powder). I decided to stop at the end and talk to a buddy and take a leak. I hit the kill switch and turned off the sled. The sled wouldn't start again. Any ideas on what it may be.

Yes, it has the teather kill switch and the standard kill on the handlebars. I always use the kill switch on the handlebars to turn it off.

ya the teather was in all the way. I also switched the spark plugs, checked for spark (there was hardly a spark), tried using starting feul, It wouldnt even turn over. If the kill switch failed would thst cause the whole sled to be dead. Like when i was trying to pull it over the headlight would be dead as well. Or is it just the plugs would be dead?

when you pull the sled over does the head light glow a little?

If you switch was bad i think it would not allow power to get to the light.

someone can correct me if i am wrong

Try pulling the plug to the switch, and start it up. Its how I'm running my sled. Skidoo switches aren't exactly the best.

Would you have to just pull the plug from the back of the kill switch or would you have to get the 2 wires going to the switch and just jump them togeather, I wish i know how the kill switch worked and what it affects.

Just unplug it. Shorting the wires will give you NO spark. Also unplug the key switch if possible to eliminate that.

As far as I know if the headlight doesn't light when you pull it over,it's the stator. If it has 2 coils, what are the odds that they both went? I'd say the CDI, which you cannot test unless you can put it on another machine to try. On Doo's, they are on the front of the engine under the exhaust.

Well, after walking for 5 km along a river i cleaned off the sled, and before attempting to dissconnect the kill switch and ignition i gave her a pull. She fired right up and began to idle like nothing, i then drove her all day and no issues (using the key to turn it off), now does anybody have any ideas now?

bad switch contacts/connection is a big possibility. It is what was wrong with mine, i dont even use the switch anymore because i pulled the wires goin to it.

well i dont have any holy water, and love it too much to sell, but what about when using the kill switch all of a sudden after drivin hard all day, would you think it may lock up when you use the kill switch, like a relay and you have to wait tell it cools down? I have no idea?
