I'm asking this for a friend - we were just doing some inspections/adjustments on our sleds at his garage. He was wondering if anyone knew what the settings on the rearward pulley do? The front pulley's settings are described in detail in the owner's manual - but neither he nor I could find a mention of the similar settings on the rear pulley. So he decided to tinker anyways.

The factory setting on the rear pulley was "3". He adjusted it so that the belt sits now sits even with the top edge of the pulley. The belt had worn so that it was maybe 1/4" recessed from the top edge of the pulley. What effect will this change have on performance? Thanks in advance.

if his belt was that far down in the driven pulley its time for a new one. the new belt should be adjusted so it sits just ABOVE the outside of the clutch. if you look at the belts, they have a taper on the top edge, that taper should be above the pulley. the adjustment he made will help the sled when taking off, where it was was like taking off in second gear. but if the belt is that worn it wont last much longer, have him get a new one.
