Most sled will go 3" with no mods to the cables.

it's diff. for manufactures and sometimes models.

Ski-doo's have flat plates for 4 holes or another bar welded on at the top of the column to form a tee.

so basically they just bolt on to where the bars usually go? and do i have to buy aftermarket bars for them or can i use the stock ones? also, how much did yours cost?

don't look at mine for an example, it's kind of home made.

You have to basic types, the articulated and the block.

The block

Extends your steering column, the bars rise but they stay on the same angle as the steering column so they get close to you. There is ususally a plate at the top of the steering column which acts as the bottom 1/2 of the clamp, then the bars, then the top of the clamps. The riser block goes between the bottom plate/clamp and the bar. Longer bolts are used to sandwich the thing togther.

The articulating riser.

For this the top of the steering column need to be a bar like your handle bars, I bolted in a piece of 7/8" stainless rod or you could bolt on one of these

Your riser can then pivot front to back on the lower tube so the riser goes up instead of towards you.

hope that wasn't to confusing

You keep your stock bars.

I used a riser of a rev i got for $20. I then cut it to fit over the stock clamps so i didn't have to buy one of those adapters shown above. I used the stock clamps to hold the 7/8" rod.

thats a good idea dobbs. u got a pivot riser for your plate style bars by sticking a 7/8" piece of rod in the bar holder then attached the riser to that piece of rod, right? heres my risers that i made from scratch (i just made the riser block then bolted it inbetween my column plate and my bar mount, and those are renthal bars, and my cover for the pad flew off )

Yeah, that's all i did. Normally that won't work unless you get the risers that look like two dogbones (no middle to hit the clamps).

riser

do you think i could take a piece of rectangular metal and just weld it on to the bottom of my clamps with some modifications? or would that not work?

i think it would just be easier to spend the 20bux and buy the 2" riser block.
