If you give it a lot of throttle at once does it act like it wants to quit?
It may be stuck chokes.

I have a '92 Mach and it sounds somewhat similar to the begining of my current problems. Check out the "Mach-z Help Please!!!!!" thread, it may be of some help. Also search "stator" and you may find similar symptoms. I am in the process of changing my cdi and stator hopefully I will solve my problem

Well I changed out my stator and cdi but had no success. I am experiencing what sounds like the same problem. When this occurs, if you roll it on its side, does it clear faster? I find the there is also alot more exhaust during this period. Also, does it seem to happen more frequently as the machine warms up? I have been chasing this for some time and have spent alot of money for the shops to solve nothing. Is there anyone who knows what may be wrong with my sled?

It's not the stator or CDI. Cdi's are either good or bad, period. Statore usually affect top end, not low end. It's a fuel problem. The pump can't put fuel to the carbs fast enough. CHeck your pump flow and for a blockage in the tank.

smallengineguy,
May I please ask more on the fuel flow theory. The last gentleman that worked on my sled wanted to know more about the problem because it only happenns when th machine has been ridden for a while (up on the mpuntain in my case). He was wondering if I primed it did it make a difference and if maybe the primary clutch was sticking. This last weekend unfortunately I had plenty of opportunities to do this research. No the clutch was not stuck and no it made no difference if I primed it. The other thing is when I mentioned tipping it on its side to help clear it, I did thid to take the load off the track. I get the same affect if soemone were to lift the backend I I hold the throttle wide open. If i don't do this it seems to take much longer to clear. The other thing is once i get it going it runs great until I let it sit at an idle? Do you still think its starving for fuel? What's the best way to check this? You have a '92 Mach, ever experienced anything like it? I appreciate your input.

Try giving it some choke or prime and see if it revs up quicker this will prove or eliminate a pilot circuit problem in your carbs. if it revs up when you choke or prime it it could be lean pilot jets or a bad fuel pump. If it dies out the your pilot jets are to big. Also you could have a cylinder low on compression or a bad coil , plug , plug cap, plug wire. You will just have to start eliminating posibilities.

How do the plugs look when this happens?
Check the color and see if they are dark and wet looking.

yup. if your oil injection cable is sticking, like mine was cuz it was frayed inside the housing, it will give u full oil all the time. but when u get it opened up, its getting the right amount of oil. id deffinately check that.
