Question 583 Rotax Won't start

Help.. My 93 Formula plus stopped running sometime at the end of last season. I didnt touch it all summer and now we have snow and i cant get her to start. I don't get spark. My carbs are finely tuned. I get electric current to all my lights. I checked the power before the coil. I put a test light on the two wires and i get nothing. my understanding is that from the magnito the electrical curent runs to the coil. however it also runs all of my guages and lights(the magneto) am I misunderstanding the theory? or is my magneto bad? where should I turn next. I have mechanical experience, my brothers and auto mech. and his gf is a small eng. mech. but they don't want to be bothered to help and im not gonna pay someone for what I know I can do my self.

start with the simple stuff, checking the wires ect. make sure its not the kill switch by unplugging it.

Spark is caused by 3 things, coils, CDI and stator. If you unplug the key/kill/tether and still have no spark, then one of the 3 is bad. If your machine has 2 coils, it's unlikely they both went bad at the same time. The next step is the CDI.THey around $60 aftermarket.

It is a single coil. I disconnected the Kill switch but not the other 2. Ill try that tomorow. but theres NO power before the coil either. so idk if its the coil. when i put the test light on the wires that connect to the coil I GOT NOTHING.. so I doubt its the coil. but what is the CDI. ?

It's usually mounted under the ehxaust header.
