Angry Sled wont start!

So i just got this sled about 2 weeks ago. It started right up the night i got it and it worked fine the next day too. Which is the only day ive been able to ride it. I went to start it yesterday and it wouldnt, so i gave up because i didnt have much time.

So today i get home and try to start it but still it wont work....I checked the spark plugs and theyre fine, the primer is gettin gas threw the lines i can see it. And i couldnt see anything else wrong. Any ideas?? I really hope its not messed up and im just an idiot but i dont think thats the case.

BTW the sled is a 1996 skidoo mxz 670.

is your kill switch pulled up/key turned on (i'm not sure if the 96's have a regular key or D.E.S.S.) when you're trying to start it?

Take out both of your plugs, Hook the plug wire back up to one of them and ground out the plug by touching it to a grounded part of the sled (engine block would be the easiest). Pull the engine over (it should be easy with no plugs) and watch for the spark. A healthy spark is bright and blue. Try this for both spark plug wires.

Well, if you can see and feel the gas when you prime it than it's not a fuel issue. Unless ofcourse you flooded it by priming to much. Check the spark and get back to us

Finally got it started! Im not positive what it was but i did check the spark plugs and there wasnt much of a spark so i replaced them and noticed it was sparking better (or so i thought, could of just been seeing things .) Tried starting it for awhile and it didnt work so i held the throttle wide open and kept trying and finnally got it too start.

Got one more question though, would it be fine to change the idle just a little? It idles just below 2grand and its right at the point where if it went down just a little more it would shut off. Would i be fine changing it so it idles just above 2 to make sure it wont shut off? Also how would i go about doin this? Once again thanks alot for all your help and sorry for my noobness , this site rocks!

To get the idle right just try putting another new pair of spark plugs in. The new ones that you put in may have already gotten gunked up a bit with trying to start it for the first time, which could be making it idle low. Also, make sure the plugs are NGK BR9ES.

So your saying i should replace the spark plugs i just put in?? I dont see how the new ones i just put in would be any different from another pair of new ones... And they are NGK BR9ES.

Just take those ones out and make sure that they arn't soaked in oil. If they are clean them off and put them back in. First of all it should be idling at about 1000 - 1500 rpm after it's warm. But if you need to adjust idle, all you do is adjust the idle screw on the side of the carb. It's a small brass knob on the left side of each carb, and there'll be a spring on it. Tighten it to raise the idle and loosen it to lower it. It moves the slide up or down inside the carb letting more or less air in. Make sure you do it equally to both carbs, the second (right side) carb may be a ***** to get at but just do your best.

The reason i suggested another new pair of plugs is because the same thing has happened to me before and new plugs fixed the low idle. I know it seems stupid but sometimes you have to replace the plugs a lot sooner than you think you should have to on these damn two strokes.

Idle should be ~1800 +/-
