i think that sled was a high compression sled, you may have to run 93 octane fuel. as for starting, three good primes from the primer is about right, sometimes when you push it in the first time you wont feel anything there (not pushing fuel in) after it fires, sometimes they need one or two squirts to keep it going. good luck with it, you came to th right place.....

yeah, usually its three. but ifits been awhile, it may take more. you just do it till you can feel the fuel in it.

hes right, it may be a high compression sled. couldve been converted though.

ok thanks alot for the really quick replys. But there really isnt any reliablility issues or anything i should be looking for at 5000 miles.Track looks good.Is there any bearings that are gonna need replacing.I m pretty sure there was two or three models available like this correct me if i m wrong,a 440 racer,440 liquid and 440 fan?And what excatly is the compression on this sled.Does anyone know a good site with lots of info on these and other mxz as i think after this year i would like to jump to a mxz 600.Thanks guys

the racer was a l/c, but yours may not be a racer. youd know. if it practically pulls your arms out off the the line, you have the racer. i would say with 5k miles, it should be good. my 500 has 7k and no major issues.

skidoo has their webpages from 97 on, might wanna check that out. they usually give some specs.

no issues, just general common maintenance. look at the "what i did today" thread to see what i do every season. i guess the idler bearings and clean clutches would be the biggies, its a $30 bill every time you lose a bearing and the idler ends up on the trail somewhere.

yeah, probably should clean the carbs too.

grease all the suspension stuff, clean carbs, just general stuff. you probably dont have to do a shock rebuild every season though.

If your sled is a race model it will not be oil injected unless it has been converted to oil injection, you will have to pre mix your fuel.
