One more question!

O.K. I know you guys are probably getting sick of hearing about the crank problems on these old tripples. But we have a ton of snow and I don't want to get stranded without a sled!! I was thinking of riding til the PTO bearing goes out or just tearing down the sled and replacing the bearing, drilling out the hole, and throwing some fresh rings in it. My question is, if I wait to do this til the summer and that bearing ends up going out in the mean time, what additional problems can expect to find? And if I do replace that bearing, im guessing I'll have to send the crank away and how long of a process is this ussually. Aaaand. Does anyone know of a link that was mentioned in a post a long time ago that instructs what needs to be drilled out. I know UPsledder said I should be able to tell, but I don't want to go drilling the wrong thing. Thanks a lot.

once you get it apart and see it its not that bad. if the bearing goes out youll most likely be looking at a rod kit also. remember........nothin money cant fix!

thanks UPsledder, thats what I was wondering. Im gonna do it, should I just have all the bearings replaced and send the crank away? or any reccomendations there. I've never had crank work done on a sled and EVERY shop around here can't help me til the middle of January, so by time I'll have it srewed up enough they can get me in.

well first thing is to get it apart, if the bearings all feel good, just drill the hole, clean it up, put new seals in it and back together again. remember to use the sealant for the case halves. if the outer bearings feel bad, they are not a problem to replace, its when you have to split the crank it gets complicated. PM me if you have any trouble or questions.
