i am working on a 1989 formula mx. When you turn the motor over with the clutch it turns the motor over really easy. When using the pull cord it pulls really hard. the recoil sometimes doesnt always go back in right away. Would a bad recoil make it pull really hard. Cant even pull it all the way over??

something is probably binding in the recoil housing, take it off and have a peek.

You need to take it apart to see what's broken or worn first. Then go to www.hlsm.com, scroll down to skidoo parts, then input your year/model, then go to recoil and lok up the part that's messed up.
