Thoughts on this '97 Trail RMK? Guy wants $1800

Seems like a lot for such an old sled. Bought a '96 XLT in really good shape for $900 a coupe of years ago. Called the dude and he is the original owner. Would make a perfect ice fishing sled (which is what I'm looking for). KBB retail is @ $1030. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

It's worth what someone is willing to pay. If you're willing, that's what it's worth. Would I? Nope. Lots of sleds out there in great shape for less money. Good luck in your search!

Got my '04 for less than that 2 years ago... For the most part, I'm never willing to pay more than high (retail) KBB. I have found that's what most sleds sell for (both when I was in NY, and now that I'm in UT). If it's higher than that, it BETTER be showroom condition...

Well, went to look at it today. The dude is pretty firm on the price, and cosmetically, it's pretty beaten up. Lots of rust, scratches, and dents. He was so surprised that I actually called him, as he's had the ad up for months and only had one other call. I straight up told him, "Sorry man, I don't mean to insult you with a low offer, but KBB dealer retail on this thing is about a thousand bucks. I can't see sinking $800 over retail into it, putting myself upside down right off the bat, with no consideration for what I'm gonna probably wind up having to spend on it in the near future, given that it has 5500 miles on it, and everything is original. Thanks for your time, good luck with it."

Thanks for all the thoughts. The thing was pretty beat up for what the dude is asking, but the sled was located literally two blocks from my house. Back to the search (which is half the fun).
