New to sleds, need advice on buy

Hey guys,

I have been looking around for a sled for a while. The wife wants to ride with me so I found a 2 up sled. It's a 2005 Polaris Edge Touring 550. I did some research online and read some forums where it was stated that it;s a piece of garbage. I read that many people experienced losing the engine many times/blowing.

I really do like the design and the price is pretty good $3,500. But I am very skeptical now since reading these posts. The seller did a compression test and it was 125psi in both cylinders. Regardless, I am still worried and probably won't make the purchase.

I am inquiring as to peoples experience with those sleds, and maybe give me a hand in making my first purchase. It doesn't have to be a polaris, but as long as it's 2003 and up and it's a 2up sled.

Thanks guys.

Find an Edge 600 2-up and be happier. The 600 is as dependable as they get. It's got a LOT more HP than the problematic 550 as well. AC and Skidoo also make nice 2-up machines, and even Yamaha 2-up sleds do well on the trails.

Welcome to the forum!

My gf loves "her" yami venture. It's an 03 2 up handwarmers front and rear. Adjustable back rest for one or two people. Electric start and mechanical reverse. It's a bit heavy but for trail riding I can't take her off it lol. Just one experience that we have. Great reliable sled. There are others I'm sure. Such as bc Dan has stated. Good searching!
