The guy with the y pipe is also selling the can too. You could probably make a deal with him for both.

Ok guys, tore down the carbs today. Not sure what is what asfar as stating numbers.. The jets that are in the bottom, not your main but the others, read, 05, 05, 04. wtf that mean? Main jets are 270s. where the needle and seat sit the seat is 1.5. I don't see any other numbers.. where should I be looking.. Carbs are 100% tore down and soaking

Can you post up a photo of at least where you're getting those 05,05,04 numbers from?
It's interesting that your main jets are larger than stock - clearly someone has changed them out for a reason. Did this typically motor get used in temps below 20 degrees consistently? If so, that may be why they went up a size.
The needle and seat are correct.

It does have triple pipes and was .20 over when I picked it up.. Maybe this is why? I never had it running until I did top end rebuild
These pipes look terrible.

It's not how they look, it's how they run that matters

They run terrible, and sound very bad. Both on the sled and if someone is on it.

Ok... The mains being one size over would make sense since it's bored AND has aftermarket pipes on it. It sounds like you have two 50 pilots and a 40... I'm guessing they're stamped 050, 050, 040.
Where did the 04 (040) one come from? Which carb?

When you reduce the jet size, you're reducing the amount of fuel that can be drawn in with the same amount of air. As such, you're making the mix leaner. While this may improve the feel, running too lean will cause a burn-down.
When you're adjusting jet sizes, you want to use jets that are never too small for ANY of the conditions you will be riding in. For example, if you ride in below-zero weather, you wouldn't want to adjust your jets for 30 degree weather - you'll end up way too lean during the typical conditions and wreck the motor.
Some motors actually came with one pilot jet of a different size, but your motor isn't one of them. I would make them all match, and I would use 50's. You might want to research the manufacturer of those pipes, though, and ask them what the new jet requirements are with those installed.

Ok thanks, I ordered a single exhaust header off ebay so I can run my single pipe, just to have both and see if theres a dramatic difference when Its put together. I got a range of jets from 250 - 290 so I will try the 260s with the stock pipe, just to bring It to stock and try it. Like I said the sound of these pipes is absolutely disgusting.

What's your elevation where you ride? And, what is the typical temp when you ride? The highest elevation you ever hit? The coldest temps you ever hit?

Do you ride in -17c weather? What matters are the conditions you ride in as opposed to what they might be on days you don't ride.

-18c to -7c, for elevations up to 900 meters would justify the 270 mains with a stock pipe.

A normal winter would be -24c to -7c or so.

I would keep the 270s in there, then. Especially going back to a stock exhaust. If you run smaller jets, you run the risk of leaning it out and burning the motor down.
