1997 polaris Indy trail touring stalling out

I just bought is sled and am a first time owner. It starts with a pull after just two pulls and the electric start works great. I notice the plug wires are really loose on the plugs. They are NGk br8es plugs and the wires are Ngk.

The sled runs good but when I stop it will conk out. It does start right back up most times right away, other times it takes a few pulls or key turns.

Could this be that the wires are loose or more likely something in the carb that needs adjustment.

Thank you

Is it bogging out when it stalls, or is it just idling down and dies.

If it is idling down and dies you may want to adjust the carbs so the idle is a little higher. I have a Trail Deluxe 500 and I have it set to idle at about 1200 rpms. That way it doesn't stall out on my wife when we are stopping for a quick minute or so on the trail. Plus we give the kids rides around the yard. So there is sometimes stopping and waiting for the kids to get on. It just works out great to have the sled idle set for 1200.

Now if it is bogging out and stalling. I would start with cleaning the carbs. After that I would look at the ignition system. Including the kill switch on the handlebars by the throttle.

My 92 650 would cut in and out while riding. It was caused by a shorted out kill switch on the handlebars.

I would try carbs and a new fuel filter. How old is the gas?

Thanks. I did adjust the idle screw and it seems to be working fine now. Have a great day

If the plug caps seems loose, check the plugs themselves. There are two kinds of plugs - those with a solid core right through them and those with screw-on caps. If the caps on your plugs are screw-on, make sure they're on tight.

Also, make sure that the snap-on caps (on the ends of the wires) are seated correctly on the plugs and attached securely to the wires. When the caps are snapped on, they shouldn't wiggle around or "wobble." If you unscrew the cap from the end of the wire, check the condition of the wire itself inside. If it looks worn, brittle, etc. - clip about 1/4" off the end of the wire and screw the cap back in securely.
