Just picked up a 97 Ultra 680 and noticed a vibration at low rpm. It seems to smooth out once you get the clutch to engage but between idle and when the clutch starts to grab it makes the plastic buzz and you feel it in the bars. Any ideas?

Your cluth could be dirty and making it wobble. I had the same thing happen to my '97 Ultra. Once cleaned, it smoothed right out. I could see the moving sheave on the primary clutch wobble at idle about 1/16".

If you hear a gear whine, that's normal as the water pump is gear driven.

Turns out it was just running bad. After cleaning and synchronizing the carbs the vibration is gone. The clutch looks to need a good cleaning though so that will be the next project.
