polaris xc 600 bogging and backfire

i have a 98 xc 600 on low rpm it bogs down and will backfire but wide open it runs great it has 7000 miles engine was rebuilt once it has 110 psi it seams like the warmer the engine gets the better it runs but it never stops bogging and backfire out of the exhaust the engine runs great once you get past 5500/6000 rpm anything before that rpm it runs like crap. any ideas anyone? could it be the cdi/coil pack? or something with the clutches?

Re: polaris xc 600 bogging and backfire

Sounds like it could possibly be getting to much gas to ware at a lower rpm it floods it and can't burn the amount of fuel its receiving and at a higher rpm the sled has enough spark to burn off the fuel

Backfire is usually an indication of a lean condition. Under 5500 RPM I would guess pilots are dirty.

gary, you might want to start a new thread. Your problem will most likely get lost in this thread.

There should be no correlation between the 2. If the head gasket were the problem it would not run very well if at all. If you pull the crank drain plugs and see coolant then you know you have a problem there. I would start with making sure the carbs are completely clean and properly adjusted.
