Indy trail touring question

Hello fellow riders
I just bought my kid a indy trail touring (two up).. The seat is torn in the normal spots. well my question is do i replace the seat or repair it.. I have used gorilla tape in the past, but was wondering if there is a more permanent fix for around 100$.
the seat is off and in my basement. any ideas.
Also, how can i cross reference the serial number on the tunnel to find out what year the chasis is. the vin # is 2684182
thanks guys

Repairing the seat is likely not going to last very long, so whatever you do - do it on the very cheap. The biggest issue with a torn seat is that moisture will find its way into the padding. This makes the seat less comfortable, makes the sled heavier, and deteriorates the padding. If you have the seat off, check to see if there's any evidence of mold as of yet and make sure that you let it dry out completely before putting any cover back on it.

Replacement covers can be had for somewhere in the $110 range from places like saddlemen.com. It won't say Polaris on the side, but it will be a new cover. You may also find an entire used seat in good shape (not torn) from a sled being parted out.

Look for the model number on the sticker where you got the serial number from. The first three numbers will indicate the model year.
