broken oiler cable

the cable that goes to the oiler on my 96 rmk triple broke at the oiler so i took the cable off and resoldered the end back on,i think it shortend the cable to much cause now the sled is running extra rich and its going through twice the oil.does anyone know anyother way to fix the problem other than changing the cable

You have some adjustment on the pump arm that may help cut the oil consumption. There are journal marks on the arm and the case that need to align at closed and WOT positions. If you can adjust those marks into spec, you're good. If not, you need a cable.
