Darn...need a new starter - want to make sure I order the right one. Can someone confirm this is the correct part number for 1999 Indy Trail - 4170006? Thanks much, Merry Christmas...!!!

Oh...n/m I found it. 417006 it is! OEM from Polaris is very pricey. Can someone recommend a reliable aftermarket model?

Just go here and buy one- New Polaris Snowmobile Electric Starter Motor 4170006 2410748 Snow Mobile | eBay

I have bought many from this company, DB Electrical with no problems ever.

I, too, would look into having it rebuilt. The OEM ones are well built, and rebuilding them returns a solid starter. If it's simply too cost-prohibitive, then seek out an aftermarket one (new) or one off of a sled being parted out. That starter motor was used on MANY different Polaris sleds.

Thank you for all the help here. I was unable to convince the man that we should just get the one we have rebuilt, that is....UNTIL I called the local Harley / Polaris Dealer who recommended a rebuild as opposed to new aftermarket and sent me to the guy they use for rebuilding....Good Lord...Men can sure be stubborn sometimes...

We are not! And, unless you can provide PROOF to support your argument, we must dismiss everything you've said.

Glad you got yourself on a path to getting it working again. Happy sledding, stay safe!

Hope you don't fall victim to what we're dealing with in CT... got 5" or so of snow, turned to rain, now it's a wet, heavy mess that is going to be a HUGE mess when it freezes again tonight.

Crap...that sux...its looking like the temps are going to hold below freezing here, so forecast is for precip to remain all snow thru the day today, with another brief storm again on Saturday. Our clubs groomers are gassed up and ready to roll...and I have my fingers crossed.
