1986 indy 400 problem with track

Alright, I JUST got this sled about 5 hours ago. Changed the plugs and it runs fine. But whenever I start slowing down (without hitting the brake) it feels like something is catching in the track. And when I slowly start off it does the same. Now this is my first sled, and I know not a whole lot about them. Please help!

Lift the track of the ground and inspect it. Rev it up get clutches to engage and see how it acts. Sleds do have alot of drag. Does it have picks?

No picks. We lifted the end up and looked at it, but couldn't see anything that could cause it to catch, yet it still sounded like it was catching on something. BUT, when we lifted it and revved it up the throttle seemed to be stuck or something. It just kept running even with us off the throttle.

If everything is rolling nice the track will spin when in the air and the motor running. Now this is not necessarily what you want as it could be from too tight of a belt or a clutch hanging or a worn out primary spring allowing the primary to be lazy

It definitely feels like the track is catching on something at a LOW speed. I'll check everything out that you said in the morning and get back to you with the results. Thanks again for the input.

Pull the belt off, lift the rear in the air, and turn everything by hand.

Well, I lifted the rear after i got the belt off, and tried turning it. She doesn't want to go at all. I'm hoping it's nothing serious, and something i can fix at home without needing any money, because I sank everything I had in this.

It takes a bit of muscle to turn it. Almost wondering if it has a wiped out bearing on the cog shaft. There alot if possibilities. at this point you may be best to pull the skid and go through all the idlers and inspect everything

Track too tight? Does it sag a little with the rear in the air?

Well, quick update: As I was getting out of the3e shower I heard my sled start up. Turns out my dad decided to take it for a joyride, not taking into account that I had put stickynotes all over it saying not to run it. When he came back about an hour later he said he didn't feel any "catch" or feel anything at all. So I don't know, But according to the neighbors he ran it pretty hard and all out. I don't know if he knocked whatever back in/out or what. After supper I'm gonna go raise it again and check it out.

But would a bent clip cause the thing to shudder like that?!

Track alignment could cause it to. But that won't fix itself

Well, yesterday we ran it, she seemed fine. 2 hours later got her back home and she started acting up again. The whole time we had her out and running she was fine. That's the weird part.
