you cannot read the date even in person. But you can see the model number. Im pretty sure the motor is an 85. Here is the sticker on the motor thanks!!!!!!!!

Prob. It has a hole cut out for the 600 and the xlt exausts. The hood is plastic and doubtably original unless it is a 90. I was thinking it might be an early 90s xlt with a 85 triblock motor

The model number on that sticker on the tunnel is better than the serial number for determining the year. First three digits will clue you in to model year. 090 would be 1990.

Thanks again! Any idea if it may have been an xlt? There is a hole cut where the xlt exaust fits in, and another for the indy600 silencer. I know because i bought an xlt exaust and it fits right in the other hole! The hood on it is likely from a fanner in the 90's as steepndeep helped me figure out. I dont think someone would go through the work to convert a fanner to a l/c.

So, first of all, I thought that was the serial number and not the model number. I can read that in your pic, but thought that it was not the one I was looking for.

Secondly, you've been down this whole path before and have gotten detailed information that what you have is a 1987 chassis with a Indy 600 motor in it. Is there something different at this point where the details would be different?

True that....

http://www.snowmobileforum.com/polar...ndy-600-a.html

And since that motor has a serial of 85-00177. It is the 177th EC60PL-02 motor built in 1985.

that was back when i thought the motor actually was the original one to the chasis. i know the motor is 85. some are sayin the chasis is 87, others 90. i never payed attention to why the 2nd exaust hole was there. just my curiosity getting to me. maybe i am mistaken, is that the serial? i will go out to the sled and see if i can read anything else. any tell tale signs to determine model? xlt vs indy600?

k heres what i got. the number above the big one (? means cant read that number) 08707??

bottom number- ?60198(either 6 or 8)

the bottom number is leading me to believe its an 86 or 88, but the "serial" starts with 090. thanks for helping me figure out what she is. the hood is plastic and from a fanner (as stated above) and is at least a '90

Look on the sticker. There are three pieces of useful information there. Serial number, model number, and date of manufacture. Also, familiarize yourself with vintagesnow.com - they have all the details there for the older sleds.

Looks like the 08707?? would be the model number. The 087 means it's an 87 chassis. The 07 means it's either Indy Trail, 400, or 600. The last two digits would identify the original motor.

57 would be 600.
