Cracked suspension support
So.. just got in from greasing the wife's sled, when I looked up and said.. "uh oh...."
Can't see it really well, but the whatever it's called is cracked there on the bottom side right by the weld, top side isn't yet.
How hard is it to pull the suspension out of a gen 2? lol, I've never tried it before.

Two bolts on each side will remove the suspension. I would remove and weld it and then reinstalled.

Two bolts? You don't have to pull the whole track then? Sorry like I said above, not very knowledgable about the suspension aspect.

Just loosen the track tension and unbolt the skid from the tunnel. It will slide out without removing the track.

sweet. thanks. Got to looking it at last night in a drunken stupor in the blizzard and saw what I needed to do. Now that I'm hung over, seems like a perfect time to work on a sled!

Make sure you bring it to a good welder. If it gets bubble gum welded, it'll break again. You may want to add a small fish plate over the joint to reinforce it. Check it for square as well.
Also make sure everything else is in good shape while you have it apart.

Only caution I give is concerning rear suspension bolts, especially if they have never been removed. Mine came from factory with the red loctite and not knowing that's what they had put in it I pulled the threads right out of the shaft. Pretty bad to do when your machine is only a week old.

I'm relatively sure the skid has been pulled out of this sled before being that stock it's a 136, but has extensions and a 151 track. But thanks for the tip, I'll make sure to be careful.

Wow never see that happen to anyone else before! I got a gen ii as well I've pulled the skid out about 4 times to weld the dang piece, I'm a terrible welder but I'd usually lasted about a season before it started cracking again, sure wish I knew what that piece was called too, front track suspension arm? Anyway for me it's always loosen the track then 4 bolts and the track slides right out, great time to thoroughly grease everything and change bogey bearings or hyfax or whatever else needs to be maintained, good luck!

Thats the front torque arm. I welded mine up with a mig welder on my Xtra10. That particular mounting position bolt didn't come out or shear off did it? Maybe you just had a bad factory weld but something must be going on to get that arm up above that mounting tube like that. Look it over well, you might find something else that caused that!

Got er all welded up last night. Greased, just replayed hyfax at the end of last season so they were in good shape. Back together now and ready to rock and roll.
